IT'S A BOY!!! |
This is our baby boy, Ricardo Alejandro. 8lbs 1oz & 20 inches of heaven. He isn't even 45 minutes old here and he is already very alert. He looks adorable. But shortly after this pic was taken, he exercised his lungs for the first time. He shattered many eardrums and stole many hearts. People say that birth is a life changing event for the parent. I always knew this and believed it ... but I never UNDERSTOOD it until now. |
I got to catch the baby, pull him out and cut the umbilical cord. I saw every detail of the birth, from beginning to end. I was always worried that I would be grossed out or that I would faint. But it's hard to be grossed out at something of such beauty taking place right in front of your very eyes. It's like you get to experience a FRACTION of what our Creator must feel when he creates life in our universe on a daily basis. It was amazing. |
My first reaction at the whole thing was relief that it was all done and that both Edie and the baby were ok. I did not even care WHAT it was. At that moment I was so amazed by it all that its gender never entered my mind. Then Edie told me what it was .... I'm not afraid to say that I cried like our baby. Edie and I sat there and bawled for about 10 minutes. I never felt so close to her before. I think that if you don't cry in a scenario such as that, then there's something wrong with YOU, not me. |
