Resume Here is my resume as of 5-June-2002. I'm currently unemployed.
Grendel Oath
Inspired by Matt Wagner's Grendel comic books. This the Grendel Oath which Orion Assante made all the grendel soldiers swear by. Some of it refers to vampires which evolved after the nuclear halocaust. Overall, some very powerful words - a hell of a lot stronger than the Boy Scout Oath.
Tribute to Hunter Rose
The original Grendel, Hunter Rose. He's the ultimate kingpin badass. Smart as the devil and just as cruel. In the first line of the Grendel Oath, "the Hunter arose" refers to him. His short life is quite interesting and was summarized in "Grendel: Devil of a Deed". Further short stories are now being printed (Feb 99) in "Grendel: Red, White, and Black". One I particularly like is by David Mack about Rose's only true love.
Goddess of Gamblers
After seeing the Return of the God of Gamblers, I had to draw an Asian in a slinky red dress. My art pales in comparison to Ching My Yau, so go see the movie.
Sandman
Some people might recognize this from one of the Festivals of Animation. There was a hella disturbing puppet animation about the Sandman ripping the eyes out of children. yummy!!
Sticky Mouseball
Ever go to a computer lab where the mouse balls stick and you can't do shit until you pop the sucker out and scrape it with your finger nail? I drew this one after I had to program for four days straight over Thanksgiving Break.
Dragon Dance
A plan for the Language House mural that never came to be. I looked and I looked for dragon/lion dance photos but I couldn't find any. My main reference was memory of Once Upon a Time in China III with Jet Li. (See it!)
Genesis
A brain fart and exercise on textures using colored pencils. I really tried to make the water droplets and snake skin look right, but everything got blurry. The Biblical reference is obvious. For a funny, blasphemous read, check out books by James Morrow.
Untitled
I spent a long time drawing the folds in the dress and the patterns in the furniture. The garb is from the SCA and various movies.
19th
This is how I felt on my nineteenth birthday. If you know me well enough, you might know why. If you can't tell, there are large tears pulling wires from my heart and holding down my head.
Ben's Kokopeli
A birthday gift for my friend Ben Tarbell. We spent some time slaving away together at Sandia National Labs in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He became attached to Kokopeli the flute player during our stay. Instead of a flute I used a trumpet since he's a mean trumpet player. (Actually it is a cornet because that's what I played in junior high and I'm more familiar with its shape.)
Cornell Dining
Die!!!! You fucking chicken!! DIE!!!!
Bariaur
I copied this from a Planescape creature compendium. (I'm tempting to get the entire game since I love the artist.) Then watercolored different color combinations. This is my fav.
Mermaid
Tried doing bubbles and how the sunlight would create light and dark lines on the mermaid. The scan does not do justice to the actual pencil drawing and the drawing does not do justice to the actual effect I was attempting to capture.
