Bryan Adams was born in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, in November 5th. 1959, as Bryan Guy Adams.
He was the elder son of Conrad and Jane Adams, he had a nickname, 'the kid', and his younger
brother's name was Bruce. Conrad Adams, worked as a diplomat, so Bryan soon began to travel around
the world, during his first childhood, he lived in Israel, Portugal, Austria, and many other places.
It was at the age of 10, when an uncle of him bought him his very first guitar. When he was at the
age of 11, his parents got divorced, and Bryan moved with his mother and brother to Vancouver, B.C., Canada.
There, in the High school, was where he met David Taylor, when Bryan was at the age of 14, he went to an audition
for David's band, because he wanted to get out of school and play, but he didn't pass the audition. By this time, he recorded his first tape, including a version of the Rolling Stones' 'Jumping Jack Flash' that he performed with a friend. It was at the age of 15 when Bryan gave up School, studied piano, and started to play in a band called 'Shock', and as Bryan says, they tried to be heavy, but they weren't. When he was 17 years old, he went to see 'Sweeney Todd' ,a band whose leader had left for singing alone, and whose new singer was not good. He told them that he could sing better than the new guy they had, and that's how Bryan recorded with 'Sweeney Todd' the album 'If Wishes Were Horses'.In 1977, he left the band, due to a dislike of touring, and it was then when he met in a record store Jim Vallance (25 years older than him, and who had played the drums in the band 'Prism', formed at University of British Columbia).
They started to write together and penned two tracks, 'You Walked Away', and 'Take It Or Leave It', for Prism's new album 'Armageddon', it went on an on, and people like Joe Cocker, Bonnie Tyler, Kiss, and Tina Turner, sang songs, written by them. They made some demos as a duo, Bryan singing and playing the guitar while Vallance played the keyboards and the drums, but they didn't receive any answer of the record companies, until 1979 when A&M, made them an offer. They made a record of four songs, and one of them, 'Let Me Take You Dancing', against Bryan's will, was promoted as a dance song. Anyway, it was successful enough, and it was followed by Bryan's first rock album, 'Bryan Adams', by then he already had a manager (his first and so far only manager), Bruce Allen, who was manager of many other canadian bands.
His first album, was recorded in Los Angeles, and it was released in November of 1980, it wasn't very successful, because the charts were dominated by the survivors of the dance and punk eras, and people didn't listened to Bryan's guitar riffs.
In 1981, he made in Canada his second album, 'You Want It You Got It', it was produced by Bob Clearmountain. In 1983, after four months into sessions, he released 'Cuts like a Knife', in this record, he started to play with David Taylor, Keith Scott (who he had met when he was 16), Mickey Curry, and Tommy Mandel, and they are still together. 'Straight From The Heart' had the US Chart number 10, and 'Cuts Like A Knife' hit number 8. He kept on touring by releasing worldwide the album, he made his first show in Great Britain, playing in the Dominion Theater. By 1984, Bryan was less than happy, and very tired, so he took a month's holiday, after this, in September, he started the recording of 'Reckless', he played with a new drummer Pat 'the axe' Steward, but Curry would return. 'Reckless' was a success, Bryan won three Juno awards (best composer, vocalist, and producer of the year), MTV adored the video that accompanied 'Run To You', and played it incessantly. The song hit number 6 in the States, and number 11 in Britain. He went on tour with Tina Turner, and they made a duet, singing 'It's Only Love'. By 1985, he was chosen to represent Canada, in the Live Aid benefit concert, in the JFK Stadium, in Philadelphia, it wasn't his first benefit concert, because he had written 'Tears 'Are Not Enough', for Band Aid. After this, 'Heaven' that had been released two years before in the soundtrack album for 'One Night In Heaven', sold more than a million records.
'Summer of '69' hit the US Top 5. Having spent so much of the previous years on the road, on 1986, there was no new material.
In 1987, he released a new album, 'Into The Fire', and made the first ever cassette-single for this song, it hit number 7 in the States, and number 10 in UK. Always interested in politics, Bryan played for International Amnesty, and took part in Nelson Mandela's' 70th birthday party, in Wembley Stadium in 1988.
After several problems with the schedules Bryan and Jim Vallance split, and it was followed by the break with Bob Clearmountain. That's how the South African Robert John 'Mutt' Lange, became bryan's producer.
The summers of 1988 and 1989 would see Bryan on tour through Europe, and it was a date on July 1988, when he played in Werchter in Belgium, it was a great show, with more than 50,000 people, under a torrential rain, this show was recorded and was going to be released only for Japan and Australia, but at the end it was released worldwide, because it was televised in Canada becoming a great success, the record name was 'Live!Live!Live!'. In 1989 Bryan was involved in secondary projects, for instance 'Rainbow Warriors' album, to help Greenpeace.
In 1990 he started the recording of his album 'Waking Up The Neighbours', it was released in September 1991, and it was in July 13th, when 'Everything I Do' that was included in the album (it was already included in the soundtrack of 'Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves'), hit the UK number one, being there for 16 weeks. The album hit number 6 at US Charts. 'There Will Never Be Another Tonight' hit on number 12 in the UK, not long before Christmas.
About his personal life, in 1991 Bryan break his six years relationship with his girlfriend Vicki Russell, he moved to London, but from 1994 to November of 1998 a new woman was in his life, she was Cecilie Thomsen (Denmark,  see pic), who has become a top model, and has been a 007 girl, in 'Tomorrow Never Dies'. Now, it seems he's alone.
In November of 1993, 'So Far So Good' was released, it was a compilation record, but it had a newly-recorded song 'Please Forgive Me' that hit number 7 in US and number 2 in UK.
In 1994, he recorded 'All For Love' with Sting and Rod Steward, for the soundtrack of the movie 'The Three Musketeers', it was in the same 1994 (January 15th) when Bryan played in Vietnam while nobody had do it since James Brown in 1971. In 1994 Bryan was on tour, and of course he went to Spain (July 6th). It was in 1994 too, when Bryan joined Pavarotti in a Benefit Show in Modena, and what he performed, was included in the album 'Pavarotti And Friends II'. On June 3rd of 1995, 'Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman' included in the soundtrack of the movie 'Don Juan DeMarco', hit the number one in US, giving Bryan his third US top. In the recording of 'Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman' Bryan had an special guest, Paco de Lucía, the famous Spanish guitarist who joined Bryan in Jamaica, for playing the Spanish guitar in the song. This song as 'Everything I do', and later 'I Finally Found Someone', was nominated for the Academy Awards.
In 1996, (March 25th) Bryan and Michael Kamen, performed 'Have You...' in the Academy Awards Ceremony, in the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, in L.A., unfortunately they didn't win.
It was the same 1996 when Bryan releases his album '18 'Til I Die', and has a big success with the songs: 'The Only Thing That Looks Good On Me Is You', '18 'Til I Die', 'Let's Make A Night To Remember', and 'Star', this last one included in the soundtrack of the movie 'Jack'.
In May 1996, he starts, an 18 month tour, and on July 4th he was in Barcelona (Spain) , on 6th he went to Madrid too. In 14th November of 1996, he played in the Mtv European Awards Ceremony, and sang 'The Only thing That Looks Good On Me Is You'.
In 1997, he keeps on touring with '18 'Til I Die', and in May he comes again to Spain, on May 24th, he plays in Murcia, and the day before day in Madrid.
The 25th of September of 1997, Bryan joined his band for recording his album 'MTV Unplugged', in the Hammersteim Ballroom in NYC, it was released worldwide, containing 3 new songs, versions of old themes, and acoustic versions of his most famous songs. In this record he had the collaboration of many different people, such as Dave Spillane, and Michael Kamen, who directed the orchestra of the Julliard School. In 1998 the video of the Unplugged show is released in Europe.
In 20th October 1998, his tenth studio album was released, 'On A Day Like Today', as first single the song of the same name, and after this, already in 1999 is released the single 'When You're Gone', a surprising collaboration with Mel C. from the Spice Girls. that has hit the number one worldwide, later a new single 'Cloud #9' with a remix of the theme by Chicane. In 'OADLT' Bryan has worked with Phil Thornalley, and Phil Western; It has been recorded in the Warehouse Studio in Vancouver, and with a mobile unit in Jamaica, during the summer of 1998. Although Bryan said he didn't want to go on tour, because he used to spend a lot of time out of home, it seems he made up his mind, because last April, he started a new tour through Europe. The very first show was in Madrid (Spain), the second one in San Sebastian, and the third one in Barcelona on May 2nd. (a complete review of this show is in 'Shows' section), after this there were a few shows in Africa, Asia and America, and back again to Europe to make a fall '99 tour, which will be over in Nov. 20th.
Meanwhile Bryan released "Made in Canada", a pictorical compilation of photos made by him, to famous canadian women. All royalties coming from the sales of this book will go to help fighting breast cancer, cause Bryan is involved with, since 1996. More information about this book can be found in the section 'Made in Canada'.
Last October Bryan joined Net Aid concert in London's Wembley Stadium, for supporting Net Aid forum, to fight against world hunger. This show was broadcasted in Spain by C+.
On November 15th. Bryan released a new record "The best of me" reaching #7 in Spanish charts (AFYVE) in just one week, a compilation of his greatest hits among old songs (that have already become classics) such as "Summer '69", or "Run to you", songs from '18 til I die', 'MTV Unplugged', 'OADLT', a brand new song "The best of me" (theme that names the album), and a funny ghost track named "Don't give up". The first single is "The best of me" which reaches #1 in Spanish charts; after this in Spain "Inside Out" is released as Bryan's new single. Meanwhile he is working in the making of the video for "Don't give up" (which he teamed Chicane). The song has debuted at #1 in the UK.
On May 2000, Bryan releases a new photo book for Charity, the project is called 'Haven'
