"In This House, Cat Hair is a Condiment."
Completed June 13th, 2002
Estimated Time: 120 hours
Cost: about $10.  I got the pattern free from
Patterns Online.
The Pattern:
Designer: Jeanette Crews
Find the Chart: in Jeanette Crews book #178 "
Catitudes, the Sixth Litter."
Stitch Count: 154 X 96
Stitches: Mostly whole cross stitches with very few fractional stitches, an average amount of backstitching, and one french knot.
Floss: 18 colors (I use
DMC)
Cloth: I used 18 count fiddler's cloth from
Charles Craft.  I believe the color is oatmeal, but I long ago threw out the package so I'm not 100% sure.

General Notes:
Though this is a relatively simple project for me, I'm quite pleased with it.  I used this project to practice railroading, and making all of my stitches vertical.  I've never employed either of those techniques before and the results are wonderful.  Both result in a flatter appearance and save thread.  This is also the first - and probably last - time I've used fiddler's cloth.  I liked the varied color for the background, but the darker threads show through on the white parts of the design, making it look slightly dirty.  You can sort of see that on the closeup of the mustard bottle.
