On
the northern coast of Cornwall, looking out from St. Ives.
Charlie, James, Maxim. |

|
We started the summer with a trip to England. We
met Charlie and Joke, his wife, in London and traveled to
Stonehenge the next day. The place is surrounded by farmland. |
|
Next, we stayed for a three days in St. Ives.
The beach was great, but the water was cold. The town is lovely
and interesting. I went on a ghost tour one night. On the
tour, we learned about different legends of St. Ives. The
Birds, the book that inspired Hitchcock's movie, was set in St.
Ives. The birds here are truly evil. They nearly stole
bread from Maxim's hand, and they surrounded the bench where Charlie
was sitting. We had just been talking about warnings that the
birds are a nuisance when one swooped down, knocked Charlie's fish
from his hand and then about 10 of them moved in to devour the whole
meal. |
Maxim is
dipping his hand in the new Princess Diana memorial that opened during
the time that we were in England. |
London Eye |
Grandma Hurst came to visit us in London.
She's pictured here with Maxim in Green Park, London. |
Maxim was infatuated with the whole scene outside the
London Eye, but kept saying, "bus...bus...bus"
|
|
Near Brighton, we met up with some friends from
Baku--Barry and Sara. Their son, Thomas is about 5 months older
than Maxim. Below, all four boys are taking a swim in the pool.
|
A childhood dream come true early: Maxim is a bus driver. |
