[Rest assured: this address 'Lange Jammer' is not real. It may sound familiar to those who have read the Dutch novel 'Bartje' , this being the address of the poorhouse. The address of the Lottery is real, but is actually the US embassy in The Hague!]

Dear Mr Chris Lingard,
What on earth is this lottery of yours? As soon as I received your mail I drove off to the Wilheimstraat in Rotterdam, which, after all, is only 25 kilometres away. I asked for the street where Equitorial Trust And Finance BV was to be found. Now there is a Wilgenstraat in Rotterdam, and a Meester Willemstraat and several others, but I could not find this company in any of these streets there. So I asked a policeman, and a taxi driver: none of them had ever heard of the Wilheimstraat in Rotterdam. Then I asked a postman (well, they are supposed to know the way) and he pointed out that not only did he not know of any Wilheimstraat, but that the post code belonged to a street in Amsterdam, which was not even called Wilheimstraat, but Sinaasappelstraat!!! I thought someone had played a nasty trick on me.
Let me tell you I was very disappointed to say the least, so I decided to drive off to your headquarters in my home town The Hague. I parked my car at the Lange Voorhout, walked to no. 102… This turned out to be the address of the US embassy in the Netherlands! The guard at the door told me that dozens of people had been asking for Europe Lotto BV. I was invited inside, had a friendly talk with one of the staff members of the embassy, and I gave them copies of your emails. He told me that your Europelotto BV was nothing but a scam. He also assured me that the long arm of US law would get at you before long.
Well, and serve you right, I should think. What a sick joke this is to play on anyone. It's a good thing I live in The Hague and that I found out what you were really up to. I'm pretty sure I would have paid your 'professional charge' to receive nothing in return!…

|Update, 3 May: the 'main office' of the scammers has moved to Stadhouderskade 102, Amsterdam. This, however, is the address of the Amsterdam Marriott Hotel! Somehow Dr. Max has the feeling that the Marriot Group will hear about this before long...|
