The Osmonds were reunited onstage May 5, 2003 at Andy Williams' Moon River Theater to perform for a UK documentary being filmed about them called "Being the Osmonds". It will air in the United Kingdom on July 19th. I was fortunate enough to be able to attend this very memorable event in Branson. First Jimmy joined Wayne, Merrill & Jay during the 2nd half of their concert to help them sing "One Bad Apple". Then Donny was introduced & joined the brothers for a wild, rockin' "Crazy Horses". The fans went crazy!! Jeff Thacker, the director of the documentary had to notify the Osmonds that they would have to do "Crazy Horses" again - he had not anticpated the audience would go so completely nuts, so he said they needed to make some adjustments & different settings to their cameras to compensate! We were so disappointed we'd have to watch them do the song again...NOT!!! |

After another rousing rendition of the song, they announced they loved to sing "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" - and they wanted to dedicate it to their older brother, Alan. Alan had to retire from performing when he began to suffer from the effects of Multiple Sclerosis. But as Alan says, "I may have MS, but it does not have me!" They expressed their excitement that Alan was there & invited him to join them onstage. The audience gave a thundering standing ovation that seemed to last forever. Alan grinned broadly as he took the stage, & then came the tears - his and ours - as all of us were so moved by the tender moments to see all of them onstage again. They sang "He Ain't Heavy" and it was something the audience would always treasure - all of them together, with the most amazing harmonies there could ever be! |
The brothers left the stage to Donny who shared his Ozzy Osbourne imitation from filming a commercial at Ozzy's home last year. Then Donny sat down at the piano to play & sing "Puppy Love" & "Never Gonna Say Goodbye" - beautiful! |
