We looked at two types of  CHILD ABUSE on page 1.
Now we will look at some more types of abuse.
Maybe reading this stuff is making you a bit sad, if so it might be a good idea
to have a bit of a rest or a play outside.
You can always come back here later to read more OK.
It's important that you look after yourself and take a break if you need to.

Another type of abuse is when the adult who is
meant to be caring for you does not give you enough
food to eat, or clothes to wear that are right for the weather, they might not make sure you have a
safe place to stay, or they might not make sure that
you are clean and have clean surroundings to live in.
They might not take you to the doctor when you
are sick or injured.

THIS IS CHILD ABUSE.
Grown-ups are
not allowed to do this.
It is against the law.
This type of abuse is called NEGLECT
or PHYSICAL NEGLECT.

Then there is the type of abuse where a grown-up
touches or hurts your body in your private parts.
Your private parts are any part of your body that is covered by a bathing suit.
Sometimes they might start out tickling you, and that might be fun at first, then you might start to feel uncomfortable, or get a funny feeling in your tummy.
You might ask them to stop, and they won't.
They might come into the bathroom and look at you,
or try and wash you when you are really big enough
to do this yourself.
They might come into your bedroom at night and
touch you in a way that makes you feel scared
and uncomfortable.
They might ask you to touch their private parts,
or take photos of you with no clothes on, or get their friends to come and touch you too.
The people that do this usually try to tell you
it's your fault, or that you're the bad one, or they try
and scare you by telling you that you'll get in
big trouble if anyone finds out.
They might threaten to hurt you or someone in your family if you tell.
Often they start out by being real nice to you, so that
you will trust them, then one day it all turns around
and they begin to hurt you.

THIS IS CHILD ABUSE.
Grown-ups are
not allowed to do this.
It is against the law.
This type of abuse is called SEXUAL ABUSE.
