Finding Wisdom in Humility

I have this Boss whom a lot of employees are often pissed. Everytime someone mentions his name, you can always hear somebody murmur, "Hmp!", or grunts and all that stuff like that. My memories are still fresh on how this man has treated me and all his other former subordinates before me.

I have never seen this guy the same way my co-employees describe him, really. I never thought this man is capable of insulting a person working under him or even orders like a stubborn King. In fact he is capable of cursing anyone with how he was described to me. He seemed so meek and everytime you see him, he's actually walking with his tall built, body inclined, his head bends as though he was really a shy type of person. But you know what, never judge a book with its cover. When I worked under this man, all things I don't believe in the past now I could see it clearly and I hated him, I must admit. I could sense that this man has full of hatred in his heart, in fact nobody liked him and I know that he could sense it in some other way that's why he seemed to be so insecure, you can actually see it in his eyes.

I have prayed to God so hard to release me from this prison and said, I'll be stumbled of my faith because of this person. He insults me, saying negative things about me that I have never even heard from my own parents. In fact, I would always be on leave from work and even planned to resign just because I don't want to see this very difficult person.

The worse is, this guy I'm talking about is a "Christian"! "Oh my... This guy is a Christian?" I often wondered, why Lord? I came to realize that not all Christians are matured. Even myself, I must confess that I have not really dealt on a lot of flaws in my own personality. That's one of the purpose of being a Christian, to let the Holy Spirit reveal to you one by one all your shortcomings so as to enhance our characters, to mold us into like Christ, says in 2 Corinthians 3:18, "...And as the Spirit of the Lord works within us, we become more and more like Him and reflect His glory even more." The Spirit of God would reveal to us this characters we need to change or enhance.

Yes we are human beings and aren't perfect and God perfectly understands that, that's why we still need His grace to transform and mold us, after all He is our great Potter. We are like a clay in a potter's hands, He is the only one who can mold us and turn us into the kind of person He wants us to be. Without Him and His grace we can never make it on our own and we need to understand that. The Lord revealed this to us, "6...can I not do with you as this potter does?" declares the LORD . Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in My hand..." (Jeremiah 18:6, NIV)

Perhaps this person has not really been delivered of his old ways and he needs the Grace of God to deal with these, just like in anyone of us.

The Lord has truly answered my prayers as I have been tasked to work in another Department, that is why He never let me resign for another job is because I will be promoted and work with another Boss who's so considerate and intelligent. I was never impressed with the former one in the first place, I believed more my own methods than his, in all honesty. But the bible tells us to obey even to our earthly masters with deep respect and fear says in Ephesians 6:5. I do understand this that's why I still was able to manage working under this person despite his harsh treatment to his people.

One time, when I was already under the Customer Service Department and was in-charge of the whole department, I noticed one morning when I arrived that the tables and chairs were all arranged differently in such a way that I did not really like how it was. Since this officer I was talking about is still with the same floor where I was, I asked some people if he was the one who instructed this. Our maintenance staff and some of my staff has confirmed that he was the one that ordered the new arrangement since he will be doing a selling project to our clients inside the Customer service office. I got somehow irritated because he did not even consulted me of this.

I asked him if it was his idea and deliberately reiterated of his reason why he didn't consult me. I even said that I want the sofa back in the lounge since clients are used to relax in this couch while waiting for their service. He said annoyingly, "Well if you want them to relax, you can put a swimming pool inside or whatever! But I tell you, don't ever touch anything there because I am in bad need of sales!" I can definitely sense the urgency and pressure in his voice. I still replied sarcastically and said this in the presence of some staff, "Well then why didn't you even bother to inform me and why do you need to get mad? What's your problem?"  He just waived his right hand drastically without saying a word as though directing me to shut up and was really pissed.
