Melding the sounds of Dylan, Cash and Cave with the soul of
Sydney's inner suburbs, English Street's Wesley Gleeson finds the heart
missing in today's world of commercial pop.
Gleeson grew up in Sydney in the 1980's, as the heart was
being ripped out of industrial Sydney and the street his father grew up in,
English Street Camperdown, was knocked down and replaced by car-parking
spaces. As more of Sydney and its inhabitants were torn down and
replaced by convenience, the music of English Street was born to give voice to
the stories often left silent.
