About A Brief and Somewhat Lethargic Interlude | ||||||||||

This was my first answer to a challenge besides the Improv (which isn't really a challenge, but a, well, improv). Spike/Doyle really isn't on my mind that much, and I gotta admit, the hardest thing was the 'must be Season 6/3' part of the challenge. I kinda cheated on that, putting them in a post-Grave story that takes place about thirty years from now. But it was fun to write. I am a bit of a loser when it comes to writing dark-fic. This isn't light and fluffy, but it's definitely not dark. I would argue that Destiny wasn't particularly dark either. But someday I'll write something good and nasty. But not anytime soon, right now I've got Angel/Xander on my mind. I started writing to produce more fic for those two, and lately all my stories have been about other characters (GHL was really about Spike and Buffy, even if S/X was the primary pairing). Ahh... about ABaSLI (I can't bring myself to type out that whole monstrous title). One thing I wanted to try was sex that was a little bit gentler. The last sex I wrote was an AR scene for GHL and Rumble before that. I've never done sweet or slow sex, and I decided to give it a try. The only problem I have with it is how short the whole encounter turned out (guess why I picked that as my title, the working title was 'Doyle-Spike'). There're so many perfectly decent fics where it takes no time at all for the boys to reach orgasm. I think of Spike and Doyle in this as fairly experienced bisexuals. Not the type to come the moment someone touches them. But there just wasn't much to say about the sex-- what was I supposed to do-- "And they continued on like that for a while. And after about ten to fifteen minutes, they came. The End." Uh, no. Someday I am gonna write a story where the sex takes longer. Not all-night-sex, but something significant. One thing I thought about doing here was giving Spike more loneliness. And then he's so exstatic (in a subdued way) to have company. The idea was to be more poignant at the end when Doyle dies so he can go back to heaven. But then I thought, 'Fick ut,' and left that out. It seemed cliched and manipulative, and worse of all-- cheesy. But sometimes I really want to write cheese. Make people cry. All that. I don't think I've ever read fanfiction that's made me cry though, just a whole bunch of stuff that tried really hard to be tearjerkers, and ended up being silly. I'd rather not make people cry and avoid being silly than get a few cry-ers and everyone else rolling thier eyes. (Did that make sense?) So anyway, yeah. Um, next up, unless I'm struck with a Dawn/Willow/Fred/Cordelia shaped inspiration (I didn't mean that as an orgy, I meant: any one of these people) I intend to write a X/A. With long sex. Don't think I'll do it? Think I'm all talk? Go look at Whoever. That's right, take that! (Okay, I'm gonna go have a valium now...) |
