About I Always Go Back
< ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
I go for almost a year without writing, and then I decide to burn a CD for my sister that has all the Buffy songs on my computer (actually, a series of seven CDs) in the order in which they appeared on the show.  Some I know without help-- Michelle Branch, "Stupid Thing," Cibo Mato, "Never an Easy Way," and, er, a few others.  Most of the rest I found on websites, but there were a few, like Garbage's "Temptation Waits," that I just couldn't figure out.  So I spammed the lists begging for help.  In return, I promised fic.  Because I am dumb.  Apparently, that song was never actually on the show, just the CD-- don't ask me how that happened (and don't tell me if it's wrong; I'll probably have an aneurism or something.  That was interesting, watching myself misspell annuerizm-- there's a dictionary on a shelf so close to me that I wouldn't even have to stand up to reach it, and yet, I don't reach.)  Anyway... I had a point, I'm sure of it.  Oh yeah!  Three people from the list helped me figure out how stupid I am, and so I owe them all fic.  A few months later, I decide to get the worst on out of the way.

It's not that I hate Giles/Xander.  I think, of all the scoobies, Giles was least like a father to Xander.  Well, and Angel.  (Oz, Riley?  God-- Spike?  Maybe Giles just only wants daughters...)  The mentor thing doesn't really count for much, and the age difference is null in a world where two-hundred-forty-somethings are allowed to fuck seventeen-year-olds.  It's just... it would never happen.  There is no sexual tension to draw from.  And okay, yes, it's not like there's a lot to build on with Xander/Angel or Spike/Xander, but there are little things, especially in season seven, when the writer's apparently just decided to go with the slash thing-

And wow, am I all about the babble tonight.

Right.

Giles is sexy.  I actually wrote this fic as much for my Mom as for Sophy, 'cause Giles is how I suckered my Mom into watching and later loving BtVS.  (I've never seen someone watch more than 5 eps without at least starting to like it, even those determined to dislike it on general principal. principle. whatever. stupid Wood, getting my homonyms all mixed up.  Not gonna talk about that damn dictionary again-- it's heavy!)

Again, topic?  Right... I wrote this in the first person so you can be the one showering with Giles, or I can, or my Mom can, or whoever.  Because Xander/Giles?  Only Sophy and about a trillion other people out there go for that.  But then, some people read femslash (even when it's not written by Jenny O.) and some people still do the spuffy thing, which is even weirder to me than the die hard B/A people.  (For the record, 'cause I'm not sure if I said before, I started off reading B/S over the summer before season 5.  If it wasn't for Saber Shadow Kitten and DOOUL, I might have started off writing straightfic.  The thought is quite sobering.)

Topic?  Gone.  Babble?  Still going.  Dunno why, but it's kinda interesting.  Speaking of, when I catch myself saying weird shit in real life, I just stop and shrug and go, "that's interesting."  I didn't know where I got that 'til I rewatched "Dead Man's Party" (an ep I must remember not to rewatch again) and Oz said it.  Like, twice.  Have I mentioned that my sister's obsessed with Oz, to the point that she got involved in a long-term relationship with an excessively hairy laconic man just 'cause he reminded her of Oz?  But then she got telepathy for a few days and realized that her boyfriend wasn't deep or anything, just really really dumb.  Also, he would never use "Canape?" as a pick up line.  So now she's dating a guy with an afro who doesn't talk very much and followed her to college 'cause he has no direction in life.  He plays guitar.

You may or may not have guessed, if you're still reading this, that I don't write these abouts out beforehand (if I did, I'd do it on Word, and then I wouldn't need the stupid dictionary).  I had a point, but I just spent the last thirty seconds glaring at the dictionary, and now my point's gone.

I'm stopping now, but just because I haven't written the about for Arch-Villain yet.  If by some miracle, you're so bored you're reading this, there will likely be more randomness over there. possibly.
