Started this a *long* time ago, finshed it around March, 2002.
I wanted to get Angel and Xander together believably, but I didn't know how. Believe it or not, I thought that Spike/Xander was more realistic (hey, give me a break, this was during the season 5/6 hiatus). I imagined Xander exploring his sexuality with Spike, then having to run to LA to hide after Anya found out, and falling in love with Angel while out at the Hyperion.
The plan was a fic in three parts: (1) Spike and Xander get together on the night before Xander and Anya get married. (2) Xander's been turned into a troll, Willow's been turned into a man, Dawn's a fox, Giles is a chicken, Spike's on the run, Anya's a demon again, and Tara has to clean this all up. This was just gonna be comedy, I had an image of Xander running into the Magic Box, arms full of stolen babies, begging Tara to chain him up before he does something he regrets. (3) Everyone's fixed but Xander, and they all run to LA for help before Anya destroys them (this was way before 'Entropy,' so I didn't know that Anya wouldn't be able to fulfill her own wishes). Xander and Angel bond and Spike sadly and not very graciously steps out of the way so those two can have a romance.
Thing was, after I sent the first part to be betaed (and I don't remember who did it for me, so I can't thank her or anything. If you're reading this, thank you!), I was told there was a big problem with the sex scene. It originally took place in Spike's old crypt, which had a personality (inspired by the truck in the 'Viking' series, except female). I did it like that mostly so I could skip over stuff and not do the sex from the boys' POVs. It's not that I'm squimish... mostly, I was afraid I'd do it wrong. My beta wanted me to make the scene more personal, so I basically abandoned the fic.
I came back to it months later, changed the sex, and made the ending an ending-- I didn't really want to write the other two parts, plus I'm not sure fanfiction is really the format for slapstick humor.
