MAYDELEH, a zine for nice Jewish Grrls
Writers' Guidelines

Maydeleh is looking for contributors who write from the heart, about things that matter to them. The zine's main focus is on progressive Jewish feminism, but we do use material by and about folks who aren't Jewish or female. We're trying very hard to be a sort of twenty-first century combination of a Yiddish political magazine from the turn of the century and a mimeographed women's newspaper from 1973, the year the EditMaydl was born. Do we succeed? Stay tuned!

We need articles, personal essays, interviews, letters, stories, poems, midrash, rants, photographs, cartoons, sketches, book and music reviews, and whatever else you can think of. We can't pay you a red cent. (Someday!) You keep copyright to your material.

I won't take it if it's anti-Semitic, anti-feminist, racist, homophobic, or from a Messianic Jewish standpoint (Jewish messianism is different...if you get that point, send the manuscript.)

Feel free to query, write a note to ask if it sounds like a good idea, or just chuck the whole thing in the mail. Send an SASE if you must, but don't count on rapid turn-around...

I look forward to reading the mail!
