What's New - Aug 2004 |
August 30, 2004 - VEGAS, BAAAABY! I don't know what it is about Vegas, but since erin & i went with Kimi, we had all kinds of 23 year olds hitting on us. Well, kimi, at least. We all spent too much money shopping and ate far too much. :( I was piling on the 45 SPF and I still managed to get dark. I'm going to die of skin cancer. My latest - penny slots. We went down to the Cal and i got bored so I sat at a penny slot machine. I stuck $5 in there and managed to get $50 off the machine. Of course, i decided that it wasn't enough so I ended up throwing it all back in. But man, that penny slot is addicting!!! I was winning so much people kept coming around wondering if I struck the jackpot. My weight is back to 132. I need to bring it down still. How does one plateau when I've only lost a few pounds. How sad. I need to go running today, since I haven't run since last Wednesday. August 22, 2004 - UGH. ok, i've had no weight loss (but no weight gain, either). Mostly because I've been eating like crap since Wednesday. I ran my 5 miles on Saturday (i avereaged less than 11 minute miles) and now my foot is totally shot. I'm so frustrated - it was only 5 miles and I've been limping & hobbling around all day yesterday. I guess I'm not doing my long run this saturday, since I'll be in Vegas. Hopefully I can squeeze a run in on Sunday, though. I went to New Orleans last week for a site visit. Lots of fun, lots of food. I'm still feeling like a stuffed turkey. My friends from Paragould were in town last week. Got together with Rick, Jason & Chris (OKC) on Monday night. We had margarita's bigger than Rick's head. then we went to pick Robby up from the airport. A boneheaded idea if we've ever had one. Robby had thrown up all over himself & the guy sitting next to him, so I wouldn't let him into the car until he took off his shirt. He's now known to me as barf boy. I took erin f to meet the gang on Friday night. oooohhhh boy. Robby introduced himself to her as "Alfredo". She slugged him one when she found out that he had lied to her. Luckily, he was in rare form & extremely entertaining. Erin couldn't get over how much he looked like Leonardo Dicrapio. Aside from that, I hung out with Sao, Darin, Kyle, & Bert this weekend. We had a great time just hanging out. I think we may have gotten Bert to pick up all kinds of crap he doesn't need. What an easy sell. :) I'm off to Vegas this weekend! Can't wait! August 16, 2004, Weight: I just realized that I forgot to give you an update on my weight loss progress. I’m currently at 132. I don’t know how after only 4 pounds I’ve hit a plateau, but I certainly feel like I have. I’m sure it doesn’t have anything to do with the 2 margaritas or Guinness. Hmmm… I think I need to cut out the alcohol. My food intake has actually improved over the past 4 weeks. Portion sizes are smaller, hunger is greater. Fitness level: 4 weeks at running. I’m running at an average of 11 – 12 minute miles. I just completed a 4 mile run where I was actually mostly running. I bought a new pair of running shoes that will hopefully help my knee problem. The sales guy at the Toe to Top asked me what I was purchasing running shoes for. I told him that I’m training for the marathon…in 2006. J His response, “I’m glad you’ve decided to ease into it and are making sure you’re really ready for the marathon…”. Ever the encourager, I told my brother, Gary, that I’m running (Gary: “yeah, right”); that I’ve been running for 4 weeks now (gary: “ha”); and that I ran 4 miles on Saturday at a pace of about 11 – 12 minute miles (gary: “that’s practically walking!”) This past week has been the week for movies. I went to see Bourne Supremacy (only ok – too much movement – got me motion sick!); Aliens vs Predators (predictable); and Manchurian Candidate (a little slow after the last 2 movies, but it was good – love denzel!). I think I’d like to still see I, Robot and Princess Diaries 2. On Saturday, I hung out with Sao after several months of my absence! It was SO relaxing. I think next time we’re going to do it again, hang out, then go get our nails done. It’ll be fun. Those who wanna come are welcome but no planning on our part. We just want to kick back and relax. This is going to be our quarterly thing. Although I think we’d better do this one more time this summer before Sao gets too uncomfortable to BE comfortable! We need to do this before baby #2 comes along or we’ll never follow through – right, sao??!! Let’s look into September!! Or wait…what’re you doing this weekend? August 9, 2004 - Some may think I’m crazy for doing another repeat trip with Henry but Erin & I thought, “hey, we get it now…things are different – we know not to expect henry at certain places – just let him do his own thing…” Well, little did I know that also involved PICKING US UP TO GO TO THE AIRPORT. I’m very, very anal about getting to the airport early. I just want to have a good seat and I like to have some time to relax at the airport before my flight leaves. Henry arrived to my house about one hour before my flight left. Not usually a problem if I’m just getting dropped off, but we had to park his car, wait for a shuttle to come, then travel on to airport, check in, go through security, & board. By the time we reached the airport (33 minutes before our flight was scheduled to leave), we had to manually check in. This was an exercise in anxiety. Since we only had carry on, they allowed us to try to board (note: TRY – security check point was HORRIBLE!!). We made it through security and went running to the gate where we had to wait in line to get an actual boarding pass. We got on, but as luck would have it, I was the only one with the center seat. Oh, Henry got an earful from me on THAT one. To top it off, I was sitting next to this guy who I swore had a physical Tourette’s syndrome and kept knocking into me. I told Erin that all I wanted was for him to admit he was wrong & apologize. Well, he had text messaged me this apology on the plane, which I didn’t get until later on Friday afternoon. We arrived into Boston on Friday morning, Henry upgrading us to the preferred level – a room with a view of the St Charles. Erin & I went to walk the Freedom Trail & ride on the Duck Tours. We had a great time. We met up with a friend of Henry’s that night to have some Mexican food at Harvard Square. Fun place. We had a great time shopping for junk we didn’t need, as it was a tax free weekend that we had wanted to take advantage of. I didn’t get too many things…just enough to keep me occupied. That’s enough traveling for me for a bit. Well, until I do my 1 day turn around to New Orleans next week. Then to Vegas the following week. August 2, 2004 - I stayed at a Four Seasons for the first time this past weekend. Wow. Let me tell you. This is the way to travel. I laid out by the beach & pool, got served strawberries, cold cloths, spritzed with evian or mango mists, & even got popsicles when it got really hot out! Wowwwweeeeee. The hotel room is just a room, but the service was excellent. Palm Beach was a lot of fun. I would do a “tell all” here, but…no. Not going to happen. Suffice it to say, it was a crazy weekend. Let’s hope what happened in Palm Beach stays in Palm Beach. Erin & I had made fun of Henry because he would say stuff like, “UGH…USAir sucks. Those planes are just horrible…” well, I now know he’s right. Those are the worst seats in the world. I’m sticking to my UAL. Or moving on to AA. Haven’t decided yet. I’ll be premier again next year so it’ll be hard to leave!! I’ve gained a few pounds since last week but I’m not sure if it was because I was a bit on the constipated side. I’ll weigh in again tonight to make sure. I was able to keep up with my exercise regimen despite any ill effects from the evenings out in Florida. I’m hoping to keep it up this weekend in Boston, as well! We’ll see!!! |
