| What's New in August? |
| 08/27/02 - ok, after much prodding and nagging from friends, here's my update. I don't remember when the last time I wrote anything down here was, but... My first major conference completed at the end of June. That left July open and pretty free. I developed some great friendships at my new job. Beth, the girl who started the same time as I did is a really great co-worker. I value having her as a friend. She's a great gal! Erin is another friend with whom I've been working out with. She's really on the ball in terms of stuff that happens at Teleflora. Lauren in HR is hysterical....she's so unlike any HR person I've ever known! She's really into the Japanese culture - probably even more than I!!! Tim's someone I met at RTI...he's a crack up...kinda reminds me of a guy from my old job. My boss is totally great! he's a dork & spaz!! I'll tell some Michael stories later. They're too darn funny!! I just came back from a site inspection on the Big Island. I know, I know...tough life. :) I had the opportunity to hike, snorkel, horseback ride, flume a ditch (flumin da ditch), see lava flow, sit on the beach to make sure it's ok!! ;) hahahaha! In addition, I got to eat at some really good restaurants!! Some bad stuff happened on the way to Hawaii!! I got my bags checked (as usual), the security agent zipped my suitcase back up and handed it to me - without my glasses or make up bag. I didn't realize it until later that nite!! On the plane (i had upgraded to first class - it's the only way to fly, people!!!) i had finished my first course - a salad, when the flight attendant asked me if I was still working on my salad. I looked down at my plate and noticed a green thing moving across my plate and told him, "no, but i think the worm still is." He was pretty horrified, but didn't give me jack squat. Oh well...no biggie, it was too late by then, anyhow. What are you going to do?? The flight attendant told the others what I said and they were laughing about it throughout the flight. I heard a few of the other flight attendants repeating that comment. by the way, Big props to Jeffy who, once again, came through in a pinch for his very sweetest friend in the whole wide world!!! He went back to the office to re-fax my prescription to the hotel!! Thanks to him, I was able to get another pair of glasses made on the island. (incidently, I got my glasses back from the government security checkpoint. they still stole my make up case!!!) By the way, contrary to Miles' website, he did NOT let me win at pool. He said, "winner takes all". I won that round, but then, as usual, he threw a hissy fit and told me i cheated. again. Sore loser. Let it be known that *I* am the TRUE winner!! ok, that's it for now!!! |
| 08/28/02 - PHEW. My butt is saved! I just found out last night that Schwarzkopf is having a meeting the same day at the same darn place that my leadership summit will be taking place. Who would've ever have thunk it? I thought that they had taken the room that my pres/ceo always requested. thank god that they didn't reserve it!!! Anyhow, i think it'll be funny if we all run into each other. |
