I've been drawing for as long as I can remember...ever since I was a little itty-bitty kid I've always wanted to work for Disney doing feature animation.  In fact, before A&M, I was considering art schools in Kansas City, Sarasota, and New York City.  I can't tell you how blessed  and thankful I am to have this ablilty given to me by God...I don't know what I would do without it!  I don't have all of my artwork scanned yet, but most of it will find it's way here soon!  Meanwhile, I hope you enjoy what's here!
In December 1995, I entered a drawing in for the NBA's All-Star Weekend Mural Contest...in January 1996 I was able to transform that concept drawing into a 12 ft. by 24 ft. painting downtown in three days, with the help of my advanced art class.  It was just a hop, skip, and a jump from the Alamodome.  Talk about one of
From the summer of 1997 to about April of 1998, I was part of a major mural program in which I constructed and designed a 4 ft. by 8 ft. mural (yeah, not quite as big as the first one, haha) all by myself...yay!  For this mural, I did a dog and cat theme...spent a couple months on it...working on it in a studio downtown.
These are a few of the pieces I did at Western Art Experience (WAE) '99, which was an intensive three-week art workshop at Schreiner College (in Kerrville) with 27 other amazing artists from around the state.  One and a half weeks of painting (taught by cowboy artist Jay Hester)...one and a half of sculpting (taught by cowboy artist Garland Weeks)...hmm...which reminds me, I
need to get a picture of my sculpture up on this page, too.  Anyhow, the concept for this oil painting came about the day after taking photos all day long in various fields, cow pastures, horse ranches, etc.  Nothing like painting to your heart's
content...gotta love it.
Anyhow, WAE was one of the most amazing experiences ever....I learned so much in such a short span of time and grew to LOVE Kerrville.  Plus, living on campus for three weeks wasn't too bad.  From MO Ranch to random trips to Albertson's to staying up all hours to finish paintings to Tuesday nights (those were movie nights for us at the 3-screen theater!) to receiving mail from friends to all of the art endeavors in between, I'll never forget that summer.
And there's the 28 of us, WAE '99, accompanied by Jay Hester on the far bottom left and Garland Weeks on the far top right.  This was at the WAE reception on the last day, held at the Cowboy Artists of America Museum....all of the artwork we produced for the duration of the program was on display for all to see.
Wanna see some more sketches?  Well, hold your britches, because they're coming soon!  I'll scan them in eventually so you can see the progression...stay tuned!

It went to two exhibitions, including one at the San Antonio Museum of Art, before ending up on permanent display at the Broadway Animal Hospital in May 1998.  It still remains there to this day.  Thanks, Dr. Vice!
There's a picture missing here...hmm....I'll upload it again soon.
the most exciting experiences in my young artistic career...in the public eye!  Plus, I got to meet some really cool people in the process.
Just to explain the design a
bit...the theme for the contest was "Respect", so the design incorporated three people of different races, playing basketball. One has fallen, and the other
two are helping him up...to illustrate the comaraderie between them.  Then, in the background are triangles colored to correspond to the sky, ground, etc.  Oh, and behind the three people, the triangles were arranged in a heart-like shape....oooh, deep...haha.
