December 2003
It's always so shocking to look back at her old journals, all those times I was so sure she was going to be crossing the bridge and the little trooper keeps hanging in there.  I don't want you to think I am doing this being selfish, she honestly has yet to show less spunk!  Her tumors inside her from neck to tail are definitely prounounced, as you can see from her above image a few of them do push her teats out, and yet, for all of this, she still eats like a cow, plays with her sister, jumps around and still is just as loveable as ever!
I'd like to say she will make it for a few more months at least, but I'm not too sure about it.  Though she is showing no signs the vet told me she would, her teats and areas are leaking.  They don't leak like he said they would, and for that I'm a bit perplexed -but I promised her I would not run her into the vet until the time came no matter what.  Less trauma and more love, is my motto.  So, her leaking is more of a clear fluid, much like water- it's not sticky at all, it is not staining, and it has no odor.  Most importantly it doesn't happen continuously.  It does happen mostly with the main tumor that started this whole mess, and this one will be wet any time she stretches herself, whether it is to get comphy on the furniture, to jump into bed, or to be picked up, that one is always wet.  She cleans herself a lot (obviously) but she doesn't lick it raw.  Aside from her loosing fur on her lower belly you wouldn't know she had the cancer unless you felt them.  It looks like she may have to go in before she's ready... if they continue to leak badly, which I'm sure they will- I will have no choice.  But of course I still hold out hope that she just dies a peaceful death at home and can be spared the vet visit.  We'll see how she does.  I never expected her to live as long as she has, and every day I'm grateful to have my hugs from her.
