Here is a newsgroup thread to which I was unable to establish a link. ------------------------------------------------------------ Message 1 in thread From: Jude & Alain (judy.m@virgin.net) Subject: Old Panoramic Minibus - info required Newsgroups: alt.auto.mercedes Date: 1999/06/02 Hello everybody, I need to pick up some of your knowledge! I need more info about the following vehicule: A Mercedes Minibus, built probably in the early 60's, with windows and skylight windows all around. Very panoramic. The body had a fairly rounded shape. It looks a bit like a beefier version of the VW delux microbus - which I own and is getting a bit too small for me...- I have only seen one in a scrapeyard in Addis Abbeba + a few pictures. I'd like to know: Which model it is? How available/sought after? Spares availability Any other technical information Thanks in advance! Have a nice day, here it';s raining cats and dogs... All I know from the van is that it had a 1.9 litre petrol engine with 65 hp. 4 speed manual , 95 km/h and a consumption of about 16 L/100km.Sizes are 4820 x 2080 x 2365 mm. Max weight is 3600 kg. There was another version after that : L407 van 1963-64. 1.9 litre petrol ,68 hp , 4 speed 95 km/h 16L/100km. Sizes 4820 x 2080 x 2365 mm (with higher roof 2495 mm). Max weight is 3600 / 3900 Kg. Because they were commercials I think they are hard to find in a good condition. Even harder to find (and higher priced) are the panoramic busses, similar to your VW 'Samba' which were top of the range. But there are probably some clubs here in Europe. Hope this helps. Three versions were available, from 'standard' to 'luxury' from 1956 til 1968. Smallest engine was in the '56 O 319 D : 1,8 litre / 43 hp , 80 km/h , 11 litre diesel per 100 km Biggest engine was in the '68 O 319 : 1,9 litre / 80 hp , 110 km/h , 17 litres petrol per 100 km Weight was 2000 - 2200 kg .
