Thou shalt not avenge,
nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people,
but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself...
I am Adonai.
--Leviticus 19:18

~~~~~
When you pray, you have to be sure that you're clean, that there is nothing the enemy can use against you. Holding anger or hard feelings toward another person gives him a place to get a hook in and make your prayer ineffective by accusing you before the heavenly court.
This is the reason in the bedtime shema we forgive any who may have offended us during that day. Unforgiveness can destroy a person with bitterness. Don't let the hurts defeat you; don't let those bitter roots take hold.
As soon as someone does something to hurt you, pray blessings--sincerely--on him. Let it go at that very moment and continue to let it go. This is the only way to come against evil and maintain inner peace. This is the only way to stand in the battlefield and pray with strength and unchallenged authority. This is the only way to grow spiritually and continue to get closer to G-d, attaining ever more joy each day.
Love is the key.
