BETWEEN the time when the Great Necromancer fell and Nolan the Wealthy came to power in the kingdom of Llacrynia, during an age of unrest, there was a war like none other. A war immortalized in this writing alone.

Many a guild was formed in the province of Ecert. None the same, but two. Although a wealthy and vast province, there was a fierce rivalry between the guilds of Silent Flame and Black Sting. Neither guild known by many and both feared by guards. Thievery, yes, the most hidden trade, was there business. This is how the rivalry began. There was a competition between the thieves' guilds for riches untold. Such jewels as the Necklace of the Green Sun were violently strove for. However, the rivalry became too great and a war broke out: The Thieves' War.

In an open field by a small village the war was waged. Hired mercenaries from each guild fought with might. As the horrific battle drew to a close and the mercenaries withdrew, all looked bleak for the guild of Black Sting. As the leader of the Silent Flame Guild, Soan Giu, looked on with triumph, the smoke began to clear. In the distance, a dark figure was seen. The figure, a young, new thief name Jerik Speardragon, vanished into the dark recesses of the surrounding forest. Gui mistook the figure for Bancore Cavil, the leader of the Black Sting Guild. Thinking that Cavil had accepted defeat and was surrendering, Giu rose in victory.

From the dark forest flew an arrow from the mighty Crossbow of Darkness, the most prized possession of the Black Sting Guild. The arrow struck Gui in the throat. With the death of Giu and Speardragon's, for it was Speardragon who launched the arrow, brave acts, the Black Sting thieves emerged from the forest and crushed the remaining mercenaries and the thieves of the Silent Flame Guild with little more than their daggers and the Crossbow of Darkness. One by one the thieves from both guilds fell. Even Bancore Cavil died in combat. But in the end the guild of Black Sting emerged victorious and Speardragon rose to a great power.
But that appears else where…
