Brownies

Ingredients

3/4 cups sifted all purpose flour
1/8 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup shortening
1/4 cup water
1 cup sugar
2 squares unsweetened chocolate
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup walnuts, coarsely chopped

Directions

Preheat oven to 350*.  Sift together flour, baking soda and salt.  Set aside.  Combine shortening, water, chocolate and sugar in sauce.  Melt over low heat, stirring constantly (mixture may have a slight grain) cool approximately ten minutes.  Add eggs and vanilla.  Beat mixture and nuts.  Beat at low until blended.  Pour in greased 8" square pan.  Bake at 350* for 25-30 min.  Cool cut in squares.
