3 1/2 cups whole wheat flour |

Combine flour, sugar and undissolved yeast in a large bowl. Gradually add warm water to the dry ingredients and beat until smooth. Cover with a transparent wrap and let stand in a warm place for two days. This starter is usually somewhat more sour than other sourdoughs. Put one cup of the starter in a crock and refrigerate. To replenish: add 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour and 1 cup water. |
