Sid Fernandez carried a no-hitter into the 6th inning and center fielder
George Sisler blasted a homerun and had 4 RBI as the Cleveland Mayors won at
League Park in dramatic fashion over the Harvey Wallbangers, the final score,
9 to 8.

Cleveland scored the deciding run in the 9th inning.  Eddie Collins reached on
an error.  Rod Carew followed, but he was set down on strikes.  George Foster
then drew a walk.  Sisler struck out, unable to help the rally.  Home Run
Baker stepped into the box and stroked a single to load the bases.  Mickey
Tettleton contributed to the rally and drew a walk giving Cleveland the win
much to the delight of the home town crowd.  Cleveland had 13 hits for the
game and Harvey had 8.

The win was credited to Dennis Eckersley(1-1) who went 1 inning allowing 1
run.  The left-handed Fernandez lost his no-hit bid when Johnny Pesky singled
with one out in the 6th inning.  Pete Richert(0-1) was the losing pitcher in
relief.  He was the victim of a defensive lapse and did not allow an earned
run in the game.
