Ridgeville Bandits rallied to top Brentwood Bearcats by the score of 4 to 3. N. Ridgeville scored the decisive runs in a big bottom of the 9th inning with 3 runs using 3 hits. Paul Molitor led off and keyed the rally when he delivered a single. Mickey Mantle was next and he delivered a one-base hit. Two outs later Eddie Mathews stepped in and he smacked a three-run homer (his 3rd of the season) making N. Ridgeville victorious to the delight of the the home town crowd. Despite losing, Brentwood out-hit N. Ridgeville 10 to 4. Steve Howe(1-0) allowed no runs in 1 inning, and picked up the victory. Goose Gossage(0-1) absorbed the loss in relief. He pitched 2/3 of an inning allowing 3 hits and no walks. 'What a game!,' Howe said afterward. 'When we won it I almost couldn't believe it! |
