The Grand River Ghostmen scored 6 runs in the 9th inning and cruised to a 10
to 3 victory over the Athens Bobkittens at Tiger Stadium.

Grand River had the winning rally in the top of the 8th inning scoring 2 runs
utilizing 2 base hits.  After an out was recorded, Tim Raines initiated the
scoring spurt when he stroked a one-base hit.  Raines took off for second and
slid in with a stolen base.  Grand River continued their aggressive style
with another stolen base.  Billy Hamilton was up next and he reached on an
error which scored a run.  After another out, Willie Mays stepped in and he
doubled scoring the final run of the inning.  For the game Grand River
out-hit Athens 13 to 5. 

The victory was credited to Rube Waddell(3-1) who went 7 innings, allowing 3
runs. Harry Brecheen(2-2) was the losing pitcher in relief.  He was pinned
with the loss despite not allowing an earned run in his 1 and 2/3 innings of
work.
