Harvey tallied 5 runs in the top of the 4th inning when they had 5 base hits. The big moment was provided by Heinie Manush who helped quiet the crowd when he stroked a base-hit scoring two baserunners. Grand River made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across. Hooks Wiltse(5-3) allowed 5 runs in 7 innings, and picked up the victory. Wiltse got relief help from Dick Radatz who gained credit for his 8th save. The loss was charged to Rube Waddell(5-3). Harvey scored big getting 5 runs off him in 3 and 2/3 innings. 'Anytime you lose it hurts,' said Buck Guthrie 'but it's losing the close ones that really hurt.' |
