Herb Score pitched a complete game as the Brentwood Bearcats pulled out a win over the Lake Erie Mohawks by a score of 3 to 2 at Tiger Stadium. The game was won by Brentwood with a run in the bottom of the 9th inning. Hank Greenberg doubled. Willie Stargell stepped up to the plate and he banged out a single. George Van Haltren then laced a single giving Brentwood the win much to the delight of the home town crowd. Brentwood managed only 6 on the night. The win was credited to Score(7-2) who went the whole way allowing 2 runs. Doc White(2-1) suffered the loss in relief. He surrendered 1 run and 5 hits in 3 innings. 'I was a little good, a little bad and a little ugly.' said Score, 'I was just giving us a chance to win.' |
