McGwire provided much of the offense. He delivered a one-base hit in the 4th inning, blasted a two-run home run (his 21st of the season) in the 6th inning and doubled clearing all three ducks off the pond. in the 7th inning. Limerick kept the scorekeepers busy in the 3rd inning which saw them plate 4 runs on 3 hits, the 5th inning when they had 4 runs on 3 hits and the 6th inning with 4 runs on 4 hits. Limerick finished with 16 hits in the victory. The winning pitcher was Vaughn(4-2) who allowed 4 runs for the game. Bob Lemon(4-5) was tagged with the loss. He pitched 4 innings allowing 6 hits and 1 walk. 'Actually, I didn't feel that comfortable at the plate today' McGwire said after the game. 'Despite that, I'm happy with the results! |
