WEB GEMS- Bot 7th: Roger Nelson robbed Al Rosen of a base hit.

The Cleveland Mayors came in to the game in quite a tailspin, but they were
able to snap their 5 game slide and defeated the Grand River Ghostmen by a
score of 7 to 4 at League Park.

Cleveland jumped on top of Grand River in the 7th inning with 2 runs utilizing
3 base hits.  Paul Waner started the inning off right when he ripped a
base-knock.  Eddie Collins stepped up next and he singled.  Collins took his
lead and swiped second.  Rod Carew was up next and he would ground out
plating a run.  George Sisler stepped into the box and stroked a single
scoring the final run of the inning.  Grand River was out-hit by Cleveland,
12 hits to 8.

Al Spalding(7-2) allowed 4 runs in 7 innings, and picked up the victory.
Dennis Eckersley got the save, his 14th.  Rube Waddell(5-5) was given the
loss.

Cleveland's manager was just happy to get a win, 'We've had such a bad streak
of games -- boy, it's great to get the monkey off our back.  Now maybe we can
relax a little and play the kind of baseball of which we are capable.'
