In a great finish the Limerick Hurlers came back in the top of the ninth and
held on to win over the Sacramento Soches by a score of 10 to 7 at
Candlestick Park.

Limerick came up with the deciding runs in the top of the 9th inning when they
scored 4 runs on 2 hits.  The big moment was provided by Barry Bonds who
disappointed the partisan crowd when he lifted one out of the park for a two
run home run (his 13th of the season).  Limerick took care of Sacramento with
no trouble in the bottom of the 9th.

The victory went to Babe Adams(1-2) who went 1 and 2/3 innings, allowing 1
run. Rollie Fingers(2-1) was the loser in relief.  Jimmy Dugan was feeling
mighty fine as he answered questions in his office after the game, 'Now that
was one fine ending! Did you see how the crowd just sat there in silence
after the winning run scored? Here we are celebrating wildly, and the stadium
is cloaked in virtual silence.  Weird. but GREAT!'
