WEB GEMS- Bot 7th: Sam Crawford robbed Lou Gehrig of an extra base hit.

45,691 fans watched an exciting game at Tiger Stadium.  The Athens Bobkittens
topped the Kelso Hilanders by the slimmest of margins, 7 to 6.

Both teams were tied at 6 runs apiece after nine innings.  Athens won the game
in the 11th inning.  Ken Williams lined a one-base hit.  After an out was
recorded, Chuck Klein stepped in and he slapped a base-hit.  Klein took
second on the throw.  After another out, Jack Pfiester came up and he threw a

pitch that the catcher muffed making Athens the victors to the delight of the
home town faithful.  A wild and woolly affair, this game saw the lead change
5 times.

Red Faber(1-0) went 2 innings allowing no runs for the victory. Pfiester(5-5)
was hit with the loss in relief.  He was a hard-luck loser as he did not
allow an earned run in his 1 and 2/3 innings of work.
