The deciding run was scored by Cleveland in the bottom of the 9th. Ernie Lombardi reached on an error. Sid Fernandez next to the plate and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. Joe Morgan then doubled giving Cleveland the win and sending the home town fans into a frenzy. Both teams finished the game with 10 hits. The victory went to Fernandez(3-10) who went 2 innings, allowing no runs. Hal Newhouser(1-3) was the losing pitcher in relief. He gave up 1 hit and no walks in 1/3 of an inning. |
