Ed Walsh completed the game without help from the bullpen and first baseman Jeff Bagwell cracked a homer and had 3 RBI at Yankee Stadium where the North Eaton Posy DagGumits beat the Grand River Ghostmen by the score of 7 to 5. North Eaton brought 3 runs across the plate in the 2nd inning when they had 3 base hits. Rogers Hornsby opened up the inning nicely when he lashed a single. Larry Walker came next and he banged out a single, and an error was also committed. Bagwell then hit a deep fly plating a run. Smoky Burgess followed and he blasted a two-run home run (his 4th of the season). Grand River threatened in the 9th but North Eaton was able to put down the rally. Walsh(8-4) allowed 5 runs on the game. The loss was charged to Lefty Grove(5-9). He was unable to control the North Eaton offense and allowed 9 hits and 2 walks in 6 innings. |
