Mark Eichhorn was great in relief at Municipal Stadium as the Athens Bobkittens beat the N. Ridgeville Bandits 7 to 6. Lou Gehrig had a good evening at the plate. He doubled bringing in two baserunners in the 1st inning and smashed a two-run homer (his 20th of the season) in the 5th inning. Jack Chesbro(6-2) got help from Eichhorn who pitched a perfect ninth and was credited with his 2nd save. Spud Chandler(6-7) took the loss. Athens scored big getting 7 runs off him in 5 innings. 'I just wanted to give my team a chance to win.' said Chesbro, 'I got burned on a couple of pitches. But we won the game, and that's all that matters.' |
