Larkin had a good evening at the plate. He doubled in the 2nd inning, doubled scoring a run in the 4th inning, delivered a base-hit in the 6th inning, doubled knocking in a run in the 8th inning and cleared the fences for a two-run home run (his 3rd of the season) in the 9th inning. Cleveland simply wore out the Lake Erie pitching staff, scoring in 6 different innings. Spalding(9-4) went the distance for the shutout. Ed Reulbach(9-4) absorbed the loss. He pitched 7 innings and surrendered 10 hits and no walks. The Cleveland ballclub's record now stands at 32-53. With the loss, the Lake Erie ballclub's record is 45-33. |
