Lake Erie tallied 3 runs in the 7th inning when they had 4 base hits. Tip O'Neill led off and started the attack as he doubled. Noodles Hahn then threw a pitch that the catcher muffed. Mickey Cochrane then laced a base-knock knocking in a run. Reulbach was up next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. Jackson came to the plate and lined a single. Arky Vaughan added to the outburst and lined a one-base hit scoring another run. Vaughan took second on the throw. Joe Dimaggio followed and he was walked intentionally to load the bases. Johnny Mize then hit a sacrifice fly scoring the final run of the inning. Lake Erie finished with 13 hits in the victory. The win was credited to Reulbach(11-4) who went the whole way allowing 2 runs. Hahn(10-5) was hit with the loss. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 13 hits and 2 walks in 8 innings. With this win, Lake Erie has a 53-38 record. They have been 6-4 lately. With the loss, the Athens ballclub's record is 56-37. |
