Limerick came through with the game-winning runs in the bottom of the 8th inning scoring 2 runs using 2 hits. Ott kicked off the action when he smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' (his 15th of the season). Hal Trosky stepped into the batter's box and he ripping a solo home run (his 2nd of the season). Cleveland made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across. Wilbur Cooper(3-2) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the win. Cooper got help from Lady Baldwin who was credited with his 5th save. Dwight Gooden(2-5) was hit with the loss. He served up 4 homeruns in his 7 innings. |
