The Bat Cracking Bombers defeated the Harvey Wallbangers by a score of 8 to 5
at Tiger Stadium.

Bat Cracking came up with the deciding runs in the bottom of the 8th inning
scoring 3 runs utilizing 4 base hits.  After an out was recorded, Joe Torre
got things rolling when he slapped a base-hit.  Dave Winfield followed and he
blasted a two-run home run (his 4th of the season).  Ozzie Smith then laced a
single.  Smith got a great jump and stole second easily.  Duke Snider stepped
into the box and drew a walk.  Frankie Frisch joined his teammates in the
uprising and laced a base-knock scoring the final run of the inning.  Both
teams ended up with 12 on the night.

Mario Soto(7-1) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the win. Bruce Sutter
earned the save, his 20th.  Kid Nichols(5-4) absorbed the loss in relief.
