The Grand River Ghostmen eventually emerged as victors over the Kelso Hilanders by the score of 3 to 1. Grand River set the tone of the game in the first inning with 2 runs. After an out was recorded, Julio Franco got things rolling when he drew a walk. Franco swiped second base. Mickey Mantle then drew a walk. Willie Mays followed and he slapped a single scoring a run. Mays took second on the throw. Bob Horner stepped into the box and hit a deep fly scoring the final run of the inning. That was all the runs Rucker needed.
