Link 1 about Onward and Roosevelt
A bit more including some on the "Blues".
       This is the Mississippi Delta.
The Onward Store
They sell great hamburgers, two bucks.
There is also one of those stick your head through pictures where you can be a co hunter with President Roosevelt. I will spare you those shots.
From the store we rode across the Delta's southern tip and jumped back on the ridge that marks the Delta's eastern border. We recrossed the Yazoo River below Yazoo City and hit Ms.22 back to Edwards and our camp. We were tired and the wind was wearing or we might have gone on up to Greenwood where the remains of Fort Pemberton are. The fort was named for the general that had the job of trying to hang onto Vicksburg during the seige. Fort Pemberton was one of the places the Federals were driven back by men with minimum fire power. They faced down heavily armored and gunned iron clads just by using what they had, the surrondings and their smarts. The next page contains the story of that battle whose outcome led to the next try by Grant, Steele Bayou. I invite you to read that page. I have put most of the information on the page so you won't have to go link jumping.
The Campground where we stayed. I found most of the sites too close together where neighbors could be annoying. There are some nice sites on the lake. Cost ranged from 14 to 18 dollars a night. There is a BMW event there in March.
