The tramp to this stunning waterfall is located just a 5 minute drive from the Bach. The leisurely return walk takes about 2 hours round trip, passing abandoned mine shafts and beautiful native bush. Or if you would prefer, there are several horsetreks througjout the region. |

To the right is the incredible view of Opoutere from atop a costal mountain peak. A great spot to kayak the estruary and see native bird colonies, spot New Zealand's famous glowworms along the highway, or just enjoy the beach. |

Speaking of the beach... winter or summer Hot Water Beach helps overcome any aversions you may have to getting your feet wet. Take your spade (or hire one there) just before low tide and dig your own private thermal hot pool. (This pic to the left was taken mid July!!!) |

Check out the magnificient views of Cathedral Cove. This 1.5 hour return trek is located just north of Hot Water Beach. For a longer stay, take a boat and visit the islands of Mercury Bay. |
