By the time we (Ted, Mike, Neal) got all the snow piled up and bagan sculpting, it was getting VERY cool. The problem with the temperature dropping so much is that it makes the snow increasingly hard to work with. Luckily there was enough snow piled there that we could just remove it with shovels, spoons, etc. to form the dewback and legs of the storm trooper. This left the problem of making the body of the rider. The snow would no longer pack, but by this time we were determined to finish it. So, in order to come up with a way to form the body, we went inside and got a few of the largest pans/bowls that we could find and filled them with water. As you might have guessed, we then filled the bowls with snow. More and more snow went into the water. Untilll it was no longer water, but slush. Next we took the quickly hardening slush and formed the rest of the stormtrooper. Naturally we took several brakes to warm up and put on dry or at least semi-dry gloves. Days later we attempted to add color via green food coloring and spray bottles. |
