The idea here [involving memory, loss, memory loss, illiteracy at http://www.oocities.org/mcarlbev/index.html] is that we should be able to see a beginning and an end to what we set out to learn. We have in mind the objects of illiteracy, literacy, spelling, spell check, memory, memory loss, our health and our brain. That what we learn provides us with the basic skills to understand the alphabet, how to spell words, how to simply make a sentence and some of the important parts in that sentence such as what a noun or pronoun is, what a verb or adverb is, what a full stop or a comma, or a semi colon or a colon does. Do you know these basic concepts are so badly understood they cost the USA Government 10 billion-yes 10 billion for each age group that falters and misses a year(every year=approx 120 billion)-Dont believe me--check NIH records and releases. This perception - or lack of--translates to you at any age and your health dollar, then, onto those who need help at an older age: Take a look at the health, brain pictures dealing with memory at top of this page. Just a reminder -the substance "humantin" which is thought to be able to defeat alzheimers has just been discovered in Japan. [[Also take a look at new study [over 6 years] which says anti inflammatories help prevent Alzheimers to a substantial degree

-BUT not all memory loss--Also ask WHY--[see New England Journ of Med Nov 22 2001[online] ** See new breakthrough to cure Parkinsons and regrow your brain cells 8 Jan 2002 Clik here, memory loss, Parkinsons cure As well another Dutch study of 8000 in New England J of Med Jan 26/02 finds that those who drank small amounts of alcohol regularly had a much less rate of decline into memory loss and brain destruction-- But remember alcohol can help the bad cholestrol or chemicals which increase decline--so interpret this carefully. PS Another view presented which has strong backing is the view that Alzheimers is caused [[ whether with John Hopkins nitrous oxide or not ]] is the view and research of British scientists that the ever present virus of the brain Herpes Simplex is a major cause. Those with Alzheimers were found consistently to have elevated levels of Herpes Simplex in their brain [ June 2007 report] Again American scientists have found that those who eat food like blueberries and Spinach which are high in anti oxidants do not decline into dementia at the same rate. This would seem to suggest a life long type of diet requirement(Feb 02).Again "multi vitamins" prevent brain cell damage says New England Journal Report jan/feb 2002.They reduce a substance called cysteine(a form of cysteine) that in wrong amounts causes cell damage]]---latest 8th April 02 Nature magazine via WebMd[MSN]report sees Alzheimers vaccinated and memory returned in mice. These studies start with people in early middle age and indicate big things for everyones [all ages] brain chemistry
It is a part of the process of what we are doing here clicky to next page please.
We should,in the end be able to write a simple letter to eg, to a business or an aunt. We should see this ability as something like knowing how to pick up a baseball bat, golf iron or tennis racket and, with the basic understanding of swinging those bats in a fulcrum we can proceed to enjoy or just simply understand. We can maintain that basic understanding throughout our lives and no matter what, use it to check ourselves.Learn how to help ourselves when our memory is short through tiredness, ill health or even help others. If we cant read and write we can start with some basic concepts aided by modern insights and discovery. No matter who we are, we can help improve our memory and the memory of those around us with simple software mentioned here and over page. The idea here, as I see it was propounded by a world leading educationalist in the South Pacific regions called Fred Schonnell.
Check out "why" you can remember ONLY five itemscheck and clikkk Here Now--
People, students and adults of all ages could take complex text and with the basic understanding break that text down into its simplest form without losing understanding. For example a truck driver might easily understand complex words of a contract. Similarly he/she could teach what he learnt, in conjunction with whatever was taught to his child at school, to his child. Another person eg,a Judge could use the basic principles to understand old text or what was being said by another, and, in the same light a young person leaving school could apply for a job or eg,write to a judge over a traffic offence or else argue in court why his or her employer was wrong.
------------------------------------------------------- As we look around the net we find some pretty heavy reading at what are supposed to be interractive sites. These sites are well worth a look at and aid in some ways your learning and ability to teach yourself or family. You should try to keep your memory sharp and improve it by memory games. One very good one of these is used by Chudler at Washington University and (but)is found for download at the FTP site of "Alltheweb.com".Here you will find other very good[dont forget to use your antivirus program F-Prot or Stiller are good] software. The program is called AMEM20.ZIP in dos[recommended] and Amemw10.ZIP for windows. The dos version is very flash by Flick software. Go to: {A href="http://www.ftpsearchengines.com">www.ftpsearchengines.com clik now and choose good search engine there for ftp sites to get amem20.zip or amemw10.zip and download. If you go too www.Simtel.com choose the directory entitled a-edu [different in simtel site] which has many memory and educational files} but this changes with updates in windows. Search the ftpsearchengine listings and also put a search in your favorite search engine includiing google and yahoo and lycos.. Whilst we are on these points of searching we can mention a place to find a dictionary [though I will say that it is good to see a whole page of words and have your own dictionary or book of simple words]. The site is {http://www.writers-free-reference.com}clikkk now CLIK or type in 'free dictionary' at Yahoo search. This site leads you to other interesting places that are both comprehensive and sometimes overwhelming. Lets list a couple of these. {http://www.wordcentral.com/englishexperiment.html} This allows you to place a word in the box and it takes the vowels out [but includes "y" which is not a vowel but a thing called a semi vowel] .If you type in the word 'shaky' the game takes out the 'a' which is vowel and the 'y', which is not. It splits the words into blocks to see their makeup and rejoins the words. The vowels of the english language are
a e i o u

Illiteracy, use a, spell check, defeat memory loss
[and]The writers site references more such as: GOTO . This site changes so enrol free at the interractive test sites and definitely choose the easier tests. This is a handy site but you really need to be an expert to use it fully. I might suggest some people who write 'word recognition programs ' for the computer could use this site to its full extent. Its kind of like having Tiger Woods or Arnold Palmers or even Babe Ruths club(s) to learn the basic swing. Or even the Macenroe's or the William's girls clubs. So lets look at the beginning and the end. The alphabet which must be memorised.
It reads; [and dont forget to look at the, brain pictures, showing your memory -memory loss at work. These images help get a grasp on some aspects of illiteracy. They help you conceptualise your brain. They take the fear out of the spell check process] ???TAKE A QUICK LOOK AT SOME LARGE PICTURES OF BRAIN AND MEMORY???CLIQ as follows
Aa Bb Cc Dd Ee Ff Gg Hh Ii Jj Kk Ll Mm Nm Oo Pp Qq Rr Ss Tt Uu Vv Ww Xx Yy Zz. [remember a to l on one line and m to z on the next]
You must visualise this in any way you like to write it. That is in capitals[uppercase] or in the small lowercase.
You should write in your own style from a to l on one line and m to z on the next.
Just in case you think this is easy why dont you ask any well trained person not on his guard to say "help me with the two letters either side of 'q". You will be quite surprised at the varied response you get.
[go to next page at this site for these--click below]
Our next step is to make up words that we must learn to spell. The letters of the alphabet are learned as they are hidden in words, [basis of memory tests]. And as well we learn the alphabet by using your memory, or memorising it and its components. [[turn to next page at this site-dont forget]] Try this [[ONLINE] MEMORYTEST. Choose "memory span" then "GUEST" .They tell us here for example, that when there are letters that sound alike (e.g., d, b, p, t) memory span is shorter (Conrad, 1964). Likewise, "memory span is shorter for lists of long words" (e.g., encyclopedia, refrigerator) "than for lists of short words" (e.g., book, stove). These findings have suggested that capacity of short term memory is controlled by verbal processes.

You will notice the various tests are still explained but that the actual test is not online [1/1/02] ===This site ==Now replaced by -- clik now---.
ALL IS NOT LOST---Go now to simtel ftp site(you can go via unina ftp as on this page which links you to simtel) choose [dos] and download zip file "psychpracs.zip". You might instead want to use Lycos ftp search to get same file. Unzip--Do the memory test and the tests before which are similar to what was done on the webpapge at Coglabs Purdue Univ [the program should run in your windows. If it doesnt just go to dos by clicking on "start" in your window and then "shutdown" choosing to click "msdos" . Goto the directory you made for the "psychpracs.zip" file. Click on Pracs. When you do memory test and other tests there you will see you are displayed numbers and words as the online test did. Do read the explanantion. Do read your results by clicking 2 when finished. To return to windows just type "exit".
Having said all that, get now these important files (memotest etc)
NOW DOWNLOAD --"MEMOTEST.ZIP" -- [SEE PAGE 2] --
[SEE THE SIMILARITIES TO THE ONLINE TEST]--YOU REMEMBER THE SEQUENCE OF CARDS IN THE MEMOTEST AT Your own RATE--This is a VERY GOOD test and is similar to the Purdue Coglabs online memory test above:In Memotest CHOOSE ABOUT NO 5% OF DIFFICULTY--FUN/serious
NOW DOWNLOAD--"RSPELL10.ZIP"[FROM FTP written by Ray le courtier]-- OR WHICHEVER YOU CHOOSE FROM RAY LE COUTEURS OWN SITE.. Do you see now here you are remembering words in spelling and the letters as you spell.
You just did this online [this test will finish in Decemeber 2001 at "Coglab Purdue" then you will have to buy it--use the memotest.zip and Rspell.zip ] at Purdue University -- Try remembering cards as they are displayed with your downloaded "MEMOTEST.ZIP" program [about five or six]---Then now you use Ray le Couteurs spelling memory[very neat for all ages] "RSPELL10.ZIP" program [or his variations of this. ---{Ray Le Couteur has memory section at his own site)
DO YOU SEE THE SIMILARITIES GO NOW TO THE BRAIN PHOTOGRAPHS ONLINE SHOWING YOUR BRAIN ACTUALLY PROCESSING THE ALPHABET [OR CARD NUMBER OR LETTER EG K FOR KING OR LETTER [MEMOTEST.ZIP] OF SPELLED WORD FROM THE SPELL TESTER "RSPELL10.ZIP" [ALL AGES] DO USE THIS.

BRAINTALK BRAINTALK brainconnection here--take a casual look here--clikknow!!!!
We learn to spell by placing five words of similar length and sound and sometimes an extra word to test our memory in a column.
You must use your brain and think of its health. You have to think in terms of, memory loss, your brains health and the ability to check your spelling [spell check or spell bee]. Take another look at those brain pictures.
We start with the simplest words.
You might look through the dictionary or any book of words such as, memory loss, or even the billboards and find for example:
can tan ran ban fan
It's those extra words that start to test anyones memory. Your list of five words will eventually include words like
brought bought caught court
now the fifth word is hard to find. Can you find one word to make up the five?
Can you at the end of the day spell each group of words unaided.turn the page now. Click line below

It is American USA SAT vocabularly tests--DO NOT TAKE FRIGHT HERE---JUST HAVE A LOOK AND RETURN IF YOU LIKE--IT TESTS MEMORY IN SOME WAY AND LITERACY/ILLITERACY??--DONT LOOSE FOCUS--USE THE DOWNLOADS--BUT THIS CAN HELP --BUT IS COMPLEX--ONLINEClikkk now AND AGAIN READING IS SAID TO BE CALLED A THING KNOWN AS "GUESSING" [They call it psycholinguistic guessing ] This involves phonics and phonemes which will be expanded upon. SOME ACADEMICS SAY THAT THE PERSON HAVING PROBLEMS WITH READING ACTUALLY FUNCTION USING THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BRAIN TO WHAT IS USED IN THE USUAL LEARNING MEMORISING PROCESS [ALWAYS REMEMBERING THAT LATEST RESEARCH SAYS THAT WHERE THE BRAIN PROCESSES WORDS DIFFERS AS THE PERSON AGES AND GOES TO UNEXPECTED PLACES IN THE BRAIN . THAT IS EG THE SITE OF THE BRAIN THAT MIGHT BE FOR "EXCITEMENT" PROCESSES THE WORDS SEEN OR SPOKEN WHEN IN FACT IT IS NOT MEANT TO. THIS CHANGING PLACES OF THE PARTS OF THE BRAIN USED IN PROCESSING WORDS GOES ON UNTIL FINAL MATURITY AT ABOUT AGE 27 TO 30 YEARS, WHEN IT SETTLES DOWN INTO THE USUALLY UNDERSTOOD BY OLDER THEORYS PLACES IN THE BRAIN THAT ARE EXPECTED TO PROCESS THE WORDS --THIS IS WORLD BREAKING RESEARCH AND COUNTS AS ONE OF THE MAJOR DISCOVERIES OF OUR TIMES ] ---//// --Take a look now at a site that offers alternative learning process and explains its why's and how's very well
Watch how these people logically explain. BUT DO REMEMBER THAT THE BRAIN SHOULD ONLY RECALL ABOUT 7 EASY WORDS MAXIMUM AND FIVE ON AVERAGE [ as discovered and experimented with at Purdue University USA ] This is the site that offers this alternative way. Take a look at that plaque called amyloid which helps to cause Alzheimers, Parkinsons, Huntingtons diseases
In August 2002 MSN.COM put the latest research on its frontpage. The research was about a test for Alzheimers Disease [or even just forgetting] and stated that the best way to test for the Alzheimers Disease was to use verbal [spoken] words The test involved asking a person to remember [ , memory loss, ] 15 words and recall those words 20 minutes later. This test is the California Verbal Test. It is a little tough In some way this California Verbal Test contradicts the idea seen and published in Time May 01 where Nuns who were shown to have Alzheimer related brain cells [they allowed research on their brain after they died at an old age] were known to remember words and data despite their having Alzheimers. That Verbal test report by MSN was first published possibly in Nature magazine[online] but as seen was on frontpage at MSN.com. //It goes to show though, that the simple spelling tester[above] and software like memotest.zip etc here on this page and next does help// Now refer to the original site above re online testing [shutdown]and memntioned above. This university site discusses this kind of testing in simple terms eg words of similar sounds are harder to remember when spoken or written near one another, or words with many many consonants increase the degree of difficulty of being able to remember a word [the actual test online is not available but see explanation at site --other more complex tests are seen but ignore Just read explanation and explore this place]. Similarly Nature magazine has published an article by British scientists who in turn say we can regenerate brain cells by making our brains work at mental [can be combined with physical] work eg learning something or a course or a spelling list over a period of time, though the suggestion is that we need to be doing something that motivates us such as a course or something similar. As well clik onto "life Science Asoociates" on this page and also[separately] download psychprac.zip from ftp to test yourself [repeat "psychprac.zip" from ftp search at ftpsearchengines.com CLIQQQ NOW and "cogdemo.zip" from Lifescience Associates]. or type in zone.msn.com/en/root Clikq Now Games 47 of them at MSN-- but get downloads first and visit sites
