This is my 1996 Kawasaki Ninja ZX600R C-9. Engine:DOHC, 16 valve, 4 cylinder, 4 stroke, liquid cooled 592cc. There a four Keihin CVK32 carburetors. Wheelbase: 56.1 inches. Height: 45.28 inches. Seat height: 29.1 inches. Dry weight: 398 Lbs. Transmission: 6 speed, constant mesh, return shift. Tire size: front 110/80v16-v240 tubless rear 130/80v16-v240 tubless This tire size is hard to find and was a very good controll size, but the average cycle tire was raised to 17 inches to increase treadlife. For a first motorcycle, I think this was a great choice. It has a comfortable riding position, is really easy to control and plenty of power for new riders. It does need some cosmetic work though. In the pictures below, I attempted to put the lower fairing together. Unfortunately, It did not hold for very long. I am currently looking for a used fairing for the bike. I would like to sand the tank and all plastic to paint it Kawasaki green. The bike had only 3,400 miles on it when I bought it and now is approaching 4,000 miles. Thanks again Andy for all your help and advice to a beginner on street bikes. |

My first, at home, oil change of the Ninja 600R. As you can see, I wasn't quite so prepared for all the oil still in the filter. I was worried when I saw flouresent green in the oil and thought I was getting coolant into the oil. I removed all of the fairing and realized the coolant was red. I called the previous owner who said he had put marker dye in the oil to check for a leak. Be care full not to overfill with oil. This one didn't take all three quarts. Still only 4,100 miles on it. It really helps to have all the service manuals. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

After much research, I have decided on what two bikes are on my wish list for my next purchase. If I buy a new bike, I would get the Suzuki GSX-R 750. This bike is lighter than most 600's and performs as well as most 900's. If I buy a used bike, I will look for a Kawasaki ZX9R. These bikes are both powerful and comfortable. Although they are heavier than their competitors, their powerful engines make up for the weight and after a while, you hardly even notice the difference. Their exellent mid range power makes exiting corners a dream. Well, I got a new (used) bike and I couldn't find a ZX9R, but I did get a Honda CBR900RR. It was a screaming deal and a really nice bike. Take a look at it on my other pages. |
