McCain Reunion Page

Anyone who has any information on any McCain Reunions, please pass the information on to me so that I might post it on 
this page. Some data is outdated, i.e, the reunions with no current date or a specific day of the year.

This Reunion was started by and is for the descendants of Eli McCain and his second wife, Sarah Hutson. Though in later 
years they have been joined by descendants of Eli's brothers, Robert and John. Any relative, no matter how far removed, 
is welcomed. Just bring a pot of something good to eat and join the fun.

 2.  Oxford, Mississippi       Date ????

This is a gathering of the descendants of Thomas C. and Mary Ann (Murray) McCain who are descendants of John McCain of 
Blount County, Tennessee. People from as far away as Texas and Arkansas attend this reunion.

3.  Lexington, Alabama      Date:  First Sunday of August (2005)
     Nebo Cumberland Presbyterian Church 
     The Church is located at 8630 Alabama Highway 101 approximately 2 ½ miles south of Lexington.

Primary attendance is the descendants of Newton Jasper McCain, the son of John Washington McCain, and his second wife 
Louisa "Lou" Epps Hunter. John Washington McCain was the son of Eli McCain and Polly McGaughey. The reunion has also been 
attended by descendants of William Riley McCain, Newton Jasper's half-brother. Primary attendance by geography is Alabama; 
however, relatives from Oklahoma and Texas occasionally attend. The reunion begins at approximately noon following church 
services. Bring a covered dish (preferably with food in it! Ha!) and enjoy the fellowship! 

Directions: From Florence follow US 72 east for approximately 17 miles until you get to a town called Elgin Crossroads, turn 
north (left) on Alabama Highway 101, then go north for 6 miles and the church is on the right.

From Huntsville follow US 72 west for approximately 38 miles until you get to a town called Elgin Crossroads, turn north 
(right) on Alabama Highway 101, then go north for 6 miles and the church is on the right.

 4.  Dover, Arkansas       Date September 20, 2003

Dover is in Pope County 7 miles north of Russelville, Arkansas on Highway 7. Russelville is approximately 142 miles northwest 
of Little Rock on Interstate 40.The reunion will be at the Ken and "Sudie" Rutledge Place on Highway 27 eastof Dover. A 
Potluck lunch will begin at 1:00 pm.

Primary attendance is the descendants of Thomas Powers McCain, the son of William and Nancy Bullock McCain of Weakley County, 
Tennessee. Thomas Powers arrived in Pope County after the Civil War around 1867.
