Ms. McDaniel's Sixth Grade George Miner Elementary School |
June 6, 2025
We have been in school now for a little over a month. I have been really impressed with the efforts I have seen both in and outside of the classroom. We have started a new program that focuses on positive behaviors. Students receive Mustang Merits for exhibiting the qualities of being Responsible, Kind, Safe, Proud, and Role Models for Respect. Last month our class received an ice cream party for having the most merits in the upper grades. Good job! This week, we changed our daily schedule to allow for more instructional time for each student. Math will now be taught first thing in the morning. It will take a little getting used to, but I think we will all be happy with it in the long run. See's Candy Sales are going on until October 9. Please use this as an opportunity to decrease your Science Camp price! Because of budget cuts, we are working harder this year to acquire school supplies. Some of you have asked what we need. Currently, we are in need of lined, binder paper. Thank you in advance for your generosity! -Ms. McDaniel

Classroom Behavior and Consequences I take classroom behavior very seriously. Without order and discipline, learning cannot take place. The classroom must be a safe environment where all students can thrive, feeling comfortable and ready to learn. RESPECT is the cornerstone of creating this environment. This does not only include the students' respect for the teacher, but also their respect for each other. The consequences for violating this mutual respect are as follows: First Offense: Warning |
Reading Each student will be responsible for completing independent reading throughout the year. The book must be approved by Ms. McDaniel. Here is a list of my recommended titles that I have enjoyed reading. Many other books are acceptable if you get teacher approval first.
Book Reviews Later this year, we will be writing book reviews in class. Here are some sites that I have found that publish kids' reviews. Use them to help you write your own or submit a review. Let us know if it gets published! If you find other good book review sites for kids, pass them on and I'll list them here for everyone.
