The McElyea family website is undergoing some changes. For those of you who are just now visiting, welcome!  For those of you have visited in the past, I hope that you find the changes positive.  When I first started the site a few years ago, I was a novice at website construction.  I am still in the process of learning but after going back and ;looking at my first attempts I think I can say without prejudice that is a vast improvement.

My desire with this web-page is to help every McElyea descendant who desires to know about their ancestors.  Although, I have not been able to find the link to the past most McElyea researchers have been looking for, for years, I have enjoyed the search.  I have met many wonderful people on-line, through mail, telephone and just down the street who just happen to be related even if only distantly. 

Going through many census records, micro-film, books, cemeteries, and writing many letters to county clerks and other places have brought many bits of information.  If you don't find your family mentioned, please e-mail me and I will try to help you get started.  Along with being a novice at web-page construction, I am still a genealogist in training.  I have been doing research for several years but will be the first to admit, I am still learning.
