one of the churches?

[17:57] grasshopp: As you enter the front door, there is a doorway to
the left, and straight ahead is the actual sanctuary.

[17:58] grasshopp: There is one lady in the sanctuary kneeling and you
assume praying.
[17:59] grasshopp: At the gentle calling of Thomas, an elderly man in
cleric's clothes comes out from the side door. The lady praying up
front, jerks around and scowls at all of you.

[17:59] grasshopp: "May I help you?"

[17:59] grasshopp: He stares at all of you expectantly...
[17:59] Thomas_W: "Good morning father. Something dubious might be
happening around here and we would like to ask a few questions. My
name is Thomas Wydler, lawyer."
[18:00] Thomas_W: "Do you know an Alex... um.. what was his last name?"
[18:00] grasshopp: He extends his hand to shake yours. "How about we
take this into my study? I think we should let Mrs. Baker pray in
peace,wouldn't you agree?"
[18:01] Thomas_W: "Yes, most definitely."
[18:01] grasshopp: His study is small, but can accomadate all of you.
It is filled with books and has pictures of Jesus, and Mother Mary
hanging on the walls.
[18:01] Abdull: "walden"
[18:01] Thomas_W: "Walden... Alex Walden."
[18:02] grasshopp: "Now you made mention of strange happenings?"
[18:02] Thomas_W: "Yes. He might be in danger. Do you know him?"
[18:02] grasshopp: "Yes, I do know Mr. Walden. He came and spoke to
me at length a few days ago."
[18:03] Abdull: "about what?
[18:03] grasshopp: "He was an author and had some questions regarding
a book he writting about Vermont."
[18:03] grasshopp: "He was most interested in the history surrounding
the old Merton house."
[18:04] Abdull: "what can you tell us about the Merton house"
[18:05] grasshopp: "Well, I might be old, but I am not that old. The
Merton house has been abandoned since the early 1900's. I don't think
anyone has ever lived in my lifetime."
[18:06] grasshopp: "I will tell you that you can probably find out
loads about the Merton house over in the library. They have all the
old paper going back to the 1800's."
[18:07] Abdull: "Do you know if there have been any reports of attacks
in the town?"
[18:08] grasshopp: "You know, I thought it strange at the time, but
Mr. Walden called back a few days later asking if we sold holy water.
We of course don't but I thought it was a strange request."
[18:09] * Thomas_W mumbles "nutjob"
[18:09] grasshopp: "No, I have heard of any attacks. But we are a
small town. Very little exciting ever happens here."
[18:10] grasshopp: "Unless you count when Mr. Peters over at the
nursing home streaked down the center of the street. That caused
quite a stir." he chuckles
[18:11] Abdull: "I think that is all"
[18:11] Wester: "If that's what counts as exciting around here I can
only imagine what the people do in their spare time," I mumble.

the courhouse. It is a very modern looking on the inside. As you
enter you see a 30ish looking woman behind the counter. She looks up
as you enter and smiles with welcome. "Good morning. "

[18:16] Abdull: "we wanted to find information about the Merton House"
[18:17] grasshopp: "Ah, you are the second group to ask about the
house in the past week. Another man was in here earlier in the week

the younger Merton leaves for an extended tour of europe.

decalres himself happy to be back, but has become reclusive and offers
little info the the reporters. he says that he has acquired an
extenive education while in europe and now has much studiying to do in
privagte.

murders plagues the area. There are livestock mutilations, ten in
quick succession 6 people die. all bodies have been severely
mauled--plainly death by misadventure, but by unknown cause. The
coroner states that large uanties of blood were missing from all
victims.

Perry, a Chastewood resident, announces that the perpetrator of the
recent murders will soon be in custody. When asked about the rumors
of real-life vampires being responsible for the murders, Sheriff Perry
says he will not comment on such ridiculous ideas.
[18:25] Thomas_W: "Good on him."
[18:25] grasshopp: Thomas, Nov. 1921 Byron Merton leaves once again
for Europe. A types letter to his lawyer explians his sudden
departure from Chastewood. His reason for leaving, the story attests,
is an overwhelming love of Europe and that he will live either in
England or France. He also ordered his house to the closed and
securely locked.
