Prayer and Welcome: The members attended Vespers in the Church
before the beginning of the meeting. The
Chair welcomed all to the meeting and thanked Mgr McIntyre for his usual
kindness and welcome.
Post
of Secretary:
- The
Chair intimated that Jim Cassidy was prepared to take on the role of
Secretary if someone else did the minutes.
This was accepted by the Committee.
It was greed that each member of the executive would take the minutes
in turn. Charlie agreed to take the
minutes at the next meeting.
Membership:
- It was
agreed that the membership group would check the database to ensure that
titles were correct and that the database could be easily used to mail
merge addresses and titles.
Christmas
Newsletter:
- The
membership group agreed to ensure that a newsletter would be sent to all
and would include a Christmas card for members. The content of the newsletter would also
include information about the amount of money collected so far for the
anniversary project and an appeal for more money.
- Discussion
took place about the frequency of the newsletter. It was agreed that it should be
distributed 3 times per annum.
- The
Chair expressed the Executive’s thanks to Peter Gorman and others for all
their work in producing the newsletter.
Anniversary
Project:
- Charlie
gave an update on the amount of donations we have so far received,
£945.00. This is well short of our
target although there are pledges from donors which would cover the total
cost. P Creron agreed to manage the
project in consultation with the Chair and the Blairs Museum
Director. It was agreed to
authorise the gardening elements and the cleaning of the stones to go
ahead.
History
Project:
- David
gave an update on this. The
‘talking heads’ DVDs were in the process of being edited and some photographs
put into historical order. The
history group had difficulties in meeting because of work commitments.
Social
Events:
- The
membership group agreed to look at possibilities of holding social events
under the banner of celebrating the anniversary of the closure of the
College.
AOCB:
- The
Committee agreed to send Father Bill Anderson a letter and card thanking
him for his continued support and wishing him well in his retirement.

February, 7.30 at St Bridget’s, Baillieston.
